'Waiting lot' opens at Lihue Airport

A free "waiting lot" opened Friday at Lihue Airport on Kauai for motorists to park and wait for passengers on arriving flights.

The lot, which is located along Hoolimalima Place next to the car rental facilities, will be open from 5 a.m. to close of business day.

Airport officials believe the waiting lot will make it convenient for those picking up arriving passengers and reduce traffic congestion near the baggage claim area.

Modeled after similar waiting lots at Honolulu International Airport and Mainland airports, motorists can use the lot to wait until they're called on their cell phones by the passengers they're picking up, no longer having to drive in circles around the airport. Users can wait up to an hour on the lot. Commercial vehicles are not allowed.

Water quotas for householders

Introducing rationing is a direct indication that the government does not have a solution nor any future possible solutions. Being a permanent implementation is also a dead give away. The government needs to be replaced as soon as possible with people who CAN come up with a solution. IF my employees make dumb decisions like this, i sack them, its about time we sacked our employees, the QLD government, they.

Housing inspector general finds backdated records in employee detail ...

An employee should not profit from a detail. However, they shouldn't lose money either. Why should she evict her tenant so she can stay at her apartment and lose $2400 a month? This sole issue of the whole scam is the only one NOT fraud, waste and abuse. An employee on detail is entitled to lodging and M&IE paid for by the government, not out of their own pocket. Just because you happen to own a home in the TDY area doesn't mean you have to evict your tenants and stay there to save the government money. .

Bus driver suspended after child climbs out back window

After getting out of the bus, the boy ran to his home about four blocks away, Oaks said.

"He went directly home and is with his mother," Oaks said this morning. "She was going to take the child to school."

Oaks said the bus driver is required to have an aide on the bus to handle the children and a radio to communicate with the bus owner and school officials.

"The driver did not stop and pick up an aid," he said. "We're also looking into why they didn't have communications on board.

"Both those things are being investigated. And during the investigation, the driver is off the approved driver list."

Oaks said the school system and the Knoxville Police Department are conducting the probe.

The suspended driver has been on the Ridgedale School route for two weeks.
