Video and graphic: How the Navy shot down satellite

A U.S. missile on Thursday, Feb. 21, smashed a disabled spy satellite that was headed for Earth, an unprecedented mission for the Navy.

Marine Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said officials had a "high degree of confidence" that the missile, launched from a Navy cruiser, hit exactly where intended — destroying the toxic fuel tank that officials said could kill if it fell to a populated area on Earth.

The military concluded that the missile had successfully shattered the satellite because trackers detected a fire ball, which seemed to indicate the exploding hydrazine in the tank. A vapor cloud also suggested the destruction of the fuel, he said.

Tamarack uber resort commands vistas at premium prices

Fairmont Tamarack, a luxury resort and vacation-home development at Tamarack Resort in Valley County, plans to break ground later this year. If you want a home there, you'll need a big bank account. The project produced $140 million in sales from 125 full memberships sold during a seven-hour period last year, Tamarack says. Among people who have bought homes are TV stars Eric Dane of Grey's Anatomy and Jason Lewis of Sex in the City and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart.Properties start in the $700,000s. Spokesman Chris Lyman declined to say how much the development would cost to build. The project will consist of 305 hotel-condominium units and other residences. Residents will have views of the Payette River Mountains, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf course and Lake Cascade. They also will have a ski concierge, a children's entertainment center, salon services, free shoeshines, onsite car rental and other services.

Now this is a topic I am going to have fun with!!!!

Many of them are highly educated, have had great jobs, decided to settle down have kids & become full time mothers to their children until they feel they are old enough (NOT 7!)Just because some husbands can't keep it in their pants & choose to wander, why does that mean that single mothers have to change their plans about wanting to be at home with their children during the most important years!!!???

Car Renters Beware: Credit Card Insurance May Not Have You Covered

BOSTON, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- SmarterTravel.com, a comprehensive online travel resource, has announced a three-part article series on car rental insurance that every traveler needs to read. In the past, SmarterTravel, along with other industry experts, advised travelers not to purchase collision/loss damage waivers (CDW) because it is generally overpriced and many credit cards offer identical coverage. The advice has always been: use a credit card with collision coverage and you'll be protected through its policies. Moreover, any card that covers collision damage repair also covers "loss of use" (LOU) charges. However, in taking a closer look at the no-cost collision coverage offered by several major credit cards, SmarterTravel found that some credit card companies require a vehicle log. Travelers are learning quickly that credit card coverage is not as fool proof as it sounds.

Study: Casino plan overstates jobs

We cannot improve or build a region's economy based on an industry that depends on our citizens losing billions of dollars every year," Bailey said in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, Rep. Daniel Bosley, D-North Adams, sent out a position paper disputing the governor's claim that casinos are "inevitable." In it, Bosley argues that the tribe's plan to build a $1 billion Indian casino in Middleboro faces bureaucratic hurdles.

"There are so many hoops that the native tribe would have to jump to get to a point where the governor thinks they would be," he said.

Patrick has hired Spectrum Gaming to do an analysis of his plan. That $189,000 study won't be done for another two to three months, perhaps after the issue is decided.

"I think a lot of people have their minds made up," Bosley said.
