The Tuesday DiScussion: MySpace or MyFarce?
Because the ways in which people perceive this farce are completely detached from the reality... Let's begin with a few well known and seemingly obvious facts which appear to be overlooked: Everyone Wants to Be Famous The Reality TV fame, which fits with the average 30-second attention span, proves this. Having your own self-obsessed profile on the web and having more friends is the DIY equivalent of fame, with the debateably hawt t'n'a-midget, Tila Tequila (pictured) as the queen of internet celebrity, despite the fact, to my knowledge, she doesn't play stadiums or have a million selling album. She does however have atrocious music accessible as videos and her own clothing line?! However, inspired by Tila, it is nice to finally see Paris Hilton has figured out that with a songwriter she can turn her fame into a revenue stream.
Purdue airport still working to land carrier
There have been 14 commercial airlines at the Purdue University Airport over the years. All have left. So when Betty Stansbury, Purdue's airport director, calls airlines about providing service out of Purdue, they want to know what's changed since the last carrier left in February 2004. Unfortunately, Stansbury doesn't have much to tell them. "The demographics haven't changed much," Stansbury said. "All of the carriers that have been here, all 14 have lost money in this market. Every time an airline exits, it's harder and harder to get another to try it." But there are still people in Greater Lafayette hoping Stansbury succeeds. From a development standpoint, the Lafayette area has a lot to gain from having a commercial airline in its own backyard. Dana Smith, president of the Lafayette-West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, said having an airport close can be attractive for new businesses.
PC World: Some things weren't in the air at Expo
For everything that was “in the air" at Macworld Expo, there were pre-show rumors that didn't pan out, products that didn't receive enough attention, and announcements ripe for second-guessing. Here's a recap of what didn't show its face at Expo, what happened instead, and whether any of it will make a difference in the long run. Not In the Air: Jay-Z ? Hoax! Despite the pre-Macworld rumors that rapper Jay-Z would be tapped to spearhead an Apple music label, nothing of the sort happened. Randy Newman was the only musician to perform live at the keynote, and he's pretty much the opposite of Jay-Z. One reason for Jay-Z's absence may have been a last-minute beef with Steve Jobs over Jay-Z's cameo appearance in Bill Gates's CES farewell video. But that reason's completely made up… just like the whole “Jay-Z left Def Jam for Apple" rumor.
CapeCodToday Blog Chowder
On, say, the night of January 23rd or the night of August 12th, witches, ghosts, and goblins are imaginary beings which only lurk, if at all, in the minds of men and women. But on the night of October 31, All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween as it is now called, these creatures come to life. They are, for at least this one night, very much real. On this night, anything is possible. Over the years the meaning of Halloween, the power of Halloween, has become lost inside of bags of candy and behind plastic masks. The real Halloween lies dormant, hidden beneath the fallen leaves, waiting to surface. In the past this night received more respect. To our predecessors this eve held more significance. On this night the Druids believed that Saman, the lord of the dead, called his servants to rise from their graves and haunt the earth.
Should You Say Yes to Rental Car Insurance? It Depends
When renting a car, many consumers purchase unnecessary insurance and end up wasting money," says Walter Bell, Alabama insurance commissioner and NAIC president. Renters should check whether their personal auto insurance policy and a credit card used for the rental provide sufficient coverage without buying additional insurance, NAIC says. Many credit cards include some collision and theft protection, but the benefits are usually secondary to personal auto insurance or the coverage sold by a car rental company. .

Far bigger market for these casual games. They don't have the products currently to have decent controllers for more standard fare - the AppleTV (more powerful than the Wii) doesn't have Bluetooth so controllers are a no-no there (IR is not an option). .

Why Huck Stayed In
He dominated the Kansas caucuses (60-24%) and Washington and Louisiana are too close to call at this hour. The race isn't any less over than it was 48 hours ago. But it seems likely that Huckabee could accumulate a significant number of delegates and (possibly) keep McCain under the magic number until after March 4th. There was a question of whether Huckabee supporters would invariably flow to Romney; but Romney voters sure are flocking to Huckabee, raising a legitimate question of whether a social conservative-led anti-McCain bloc would have fared better in the early primaries. I now expect the protest vote for Huckabee to be quite strong in most states as turnout plummets, maybe 30-40% in the South and Midwest and 20-30% elsewhere, rising to outright victories in caucuses and in the Deep South.
